Seiko 5 Sports Automatic Skeleton Dial Stainless Steel Men’s Watch SRPJ45K1

The Case:

The Seiko 5 Sports SRPJ45K1 is housed in a 42mm stainless steel case that has been treated to a brushed finish. The case features a two-tone unidirectional rotating crown that exhibits a 60-minute count up scale that is meant to resemble a fuel gauge. The grooved walls of the bezel ensure that it always remains easily operable. A push-down crown is located at the 4 o’clock position, it is flanked either side by crown guards, which prevent it from being knocked out of place. Lastly, hardlex crystal offers the benefits of being both scratch and shatter resistant. 

The Dial:

The skeleton style dial pays homage to to Seiko’s beloved archive of the 1970s: “Time sonar.” Time sonar is a unique specification that shows the workings of the watch by showing the day/date disk through the translucent dial. It showcases a simplistic, easy-to-read layout through large applied indices and a silver framed handset, which are both generously coated in LumiBrite material which allows for nighttime visibility. A white 60-second track is printed on the chapter ring, which allows for a more accurate reading of the time. A silver framed date-display window replaces the 3 o’clock marker, whilst the Seiko logo is located underneath the 12 o’clock marker. 

The Strap:

The watch is presented on a classic 3-link Oyster-style bracelet that is crafted out of brushed stainless steel. It features a deployment clasp with micro-adjustments and a divers extension.

The Functions:

Seiko’s in-house built automatic movement, the 4R36, powers this timepiece. It is a self-wind and manual movement that offers a power reserve of 41 hours. It is water resistant to 100 metres, which means it can be worn when swimming in shallow waters.
