Seiko 5 Sports Naruto & Boruto Limited Edition Automatic Green Dial Men's Watch SRPF73K1

Introducing one of seven watch designs inspired by the creative world of internationally renowned Japanese manga and anime: Naruto & Boruto. Echoing the stories based on personal, moral and social development, each timepiece represents one of the seven key different Ninja characters through the dial and bezel colour combination. All feature a stylish coordinating Nato nylon strap. This design is representative of the Rock Lee character from the stories, who specialises in Taijutsu and dreams of becoming a “splendid ninja.” For over 50 years, Seiko 5 Sports has delivered consistently high levels of reliability, durability, performance and value, endearing them to lovers of mechanical watches worldwide. Today, with a new design, this much-loved timepiece is re-born. ‘’5’’ represents the original five key attributes of every Seiko 5 watch: Automatic movement, Day-date display at the three o’clock position, Water Resistance, Recessed crown at the four o’clock position and Durable case and bracelet – features still present today.

The Case:

The 40mm gun metal grey case of this Seiko 5 Sports Rock Lee SRPF73K1 model is made from brushed stainless steel, which offers the wearer unparalleled levels of anti-corrosiveness, as well as ensuring greater shine longevity. Hardlex glass has also been used to provide further protection. There is also a non-screw down crown present besides the 4 o’clock marker, which allows the watch to sit comfortably upon the wearer’s wrist. The bi-coloured uni-directional bezel is reminiscence of the character’s bandages on his arms and thigh, and on the other, the "The Eight Inner Gates," of which Lee had managed to open up to the fifth gate to obtain the extraordinary "Hidden Lotus".The case back is transparent, which allows the wearer to view the inner mechanisms of the timepiece. It is inscribed with the kanji characters meaning "Guts" as found on his heavy ankle weights and the serial number of the model, as it is limited to just 6,500 pieces.

The Dial:

The sunburst green design of the dial is inspired by Rock Lee’s trademark jumpsuit. The deep green hues of the dial emit a range of colours when it comes into contact with the sunlight. Thick patina coloured baton-style hour markers are located around the edge of the dial, while a day date window replaces the 3 o’clock marker.  Each marker consists of a lumibrite material which allows for nighttime visibility. The hour hand comes in a syringe-style, while the minute  comes in an arrow-style. Both have been filled with lumbrite material. The Seiko 5 logo sits beneath the 12 o’clock marker.

The Strap:

The nylon strap imitates the colour of Rock Lee's jumpsuit and leg warmers, with the green strap featuring an orange stripe through the middle. It makes for an eye-catching design, which draws directly from the characters aesthetics. It fastens easily using a standard buckle.

The Functions:

The Seiko 5 Sports range boasts Seiko’s new upgraded 4R36 automatic. It is the same movement that is found in more expensive Seiko models, such as the ‘Turtle’ that belongs to the Prospex range. The movement consists of 24 jewels, and it operates at 21,600 beats per hour. This ensures the watch has 40 hours of power reserve. It includes Seiko Diashock, which essentially protects the inner mechanisms from any damage the watch may sustain if it were to be dropped or knocked. It is expected to either gain or loose between +45 / -35 seconds per day. Finally, this watch has a water resistance of 100 metres, making it suitable for swimming and snorkelling.
